Fourth Grade Expectations:
-Come to school and class prepared
-Follow directions the first time given
-Respect the rights and property of others
-Use time wisely and do your best work
-Good behavior is expected and valued
Behavior System:
-Your child's 1st quarter behavior chart is stapled to the front of their trapper keeper. There are five "strands" listed with their explanation. These strands are what is found on the quarterly report cards. Using this method, students are able to have multiple chances to self-monitor their social and academic behavior all while still being able to keep an E! This is a wonderful "unspoken" communication device between home and school. As parents, you are able to track their behavior on a daily basis as well as know exactly what grade they will receive on their report card pertaining to the social and emotional section. No surprises! We hope this streamlines our communication with you, as well as the students. Pink slips (used last year), will be given for stronger offenses that need parent/principal involvement.
Late Work:
-All work assigned to a student is by definition required. The work provides practice of a skill, application of the skill and/or assessment information for the child and teacher. It is not an option for a student to not complete and submit assigned work. Incomplete assignments or assignments not submitted by due date, will result in students using their own time to complete. If a student demonstrates a pattern of not completing work as assigned, parents will be notified. Should the pattern continue, motivators such as loss of privileges or meeting to strategize with administrators will be applied.
Grades:
-Grades are based on a combination of tests, participation, class work, homework, group work, and projects. Any student who scores below a 70 on an assignment will be required to make corrections to bring the grade up to a 70. Students are allowed to make corrections on graded work for half credit back.
Communications:
-Please check our Weebly website WEEKLY for assignments, announcements, and teacher communication.
Homework:
-Homework may consist of material across all subjects including unfinished class work, assigned homework, and studying for tests. No homework should require parent help; it is work the students are able to and should complete independently. Per campus policy, when homework is assigned it should not exceed a maximum of 40 minutes. Homework will not be assigned for completion on weekends or No Homework Nights. Per policy, please let me know if it is taking longer than the expected time. This is important assessment information and will advise me if accommodations are necessary.
Makeup Work / Absences:
-For every day your child was absent, 1 day will be given to complete any and all make-up work.
Lunch Visits:
-Please feel free to join us for lunch! We are in the cafeteria from 11:45-12:10! You are welcome to sit with your child at their class table. You are more than welcome to bring your child a special lunch, but please do not bring food for any other children.
